The green moss decorative bowl is more popular than ever, as it makes a very natural centerpiece, as well as bringing life to the decor. You can find this type of arrangement in a few specialized stores, but be aware that it will often come with a high price tag. Rest assured, an arrangement as simple as a moss bowl doesn’t have to be complicated nor expensive. Find out how to make your own plant centerpiece for a fraction of the price, in less than 20 minutes.
List of materials :
- 1 green moss mat (12 x 12”)
- 1 decorative bowl (7” diameter)
- Recycled paper, cardboard or floral foam
- Pair of scissors
- Hot glue (optional)
Step 1 : gather the material
Take out all the materials you need to make your moss bowl: the 12 x 12″ artificial moss mat, a 7″ diameter textured decorative bowl and recycled paper (or cardboard that you already have on hand). Make sure you have a clean, flat surface to work on. Tip: Choose an antique or textured bowl to add a little flair to your simple arrangement.
Step 2 : fill the bowl with recycled cardboard
Fill your decorative bowl or other chosen container with cardboard or recycled paper. Make small balls of cardboard paper and place them side by side in the bottom of the jar so that the hole is completely covered. Continue filling so that the cardboard stops at the edge of the jar.
Step 3 : place the green moss
Finally, cover the paper surface with the foam square mat. Be sure to tuck the ends of the mat around the bowl to secure it in place. If you have too much material, you can cut the plant mat with a scissor. Use hot glue if the ends tend to stick out of the pot. This will help you glue them in place to keep them in.
For the final touch, if want to add a little extra something, you could always add miniature succulents. It is also possible to make the same DIY with different greenery squares. For example, a square of fake grass or a square of boxwood.
