There are so many advantages to choosing an artificial Christmas tree. When you purchase a high-quality artificial Christmas tree, you’re assured that this piece was created to look as natural as possible, but there are a couple of tricks that are great to have up your sleeve to ensure that your tree looks as natural as possible. These are also good ideas for renewing an older tree that you want to recycle!

1- Open your Christmas tree branches

Once you’ve removed your tree from its storage box, don’t just put the pieces together, take the time to unfold the branches too ! Starting from the base, open up each piece of every branch which will give your tree the most volume possible. Once that’s done for the whole tree, take a step back to see what it looks like. Take the time to move branches around to cover up any empty spots.

2- Add some spruce branches or berries

If parts of your tree seem empty, get some artificial spruce branches in a color or model that resembles your tree and place them in the holes. With the quality of artificial Christmas greenery available, you’ll be able to get a fuller Christmas tree that looks real. Generally, just a couple of branches will do the trick.

3- Get the woodsy scent of a real Christmas tree

Usually, just the scent of a freshly cut Christmas tree can awaken nostalgia in just about anyone. Scent is an important sense, and it can trick even the most eagle-eyed observer! Luckily, you can now purchase scented sticks that can be hung in your Christmas tree (or wreath, or garland!) that simulate the smell of a freshly-cut pine tree.

4- Don’t skip the Christmas decorations

Don’t be scared to add some variety to your tree! Use different sized ball ornaments, but be sure to place the biggest ones first. You can also use holiday ribbons to create small accordions by folding them in three or four. These are great solutions that will help cover up spaces that are a bit more empty on the tree.

5- Hide the plastic foot of your tree

There is nothing that will give you away faster than the plastic base of a fake Christmas tree. Be sure to hide the foot by using a tree skirt that matches your Christmas tree decorations. You can also use tree collars, which are a more modern way to hide the base of your tree. They’re available in a variety of materials like metal, velvet or rattan, which you can match to your tree and to your home decor. The idea is to make the plastic base of the tree as unapparent as possible.

With all of this being said, when you’re shopping for an artificial Christmas tree, there are certain points that you need to take into consideration so you can choose the right one – luckily we have them all listed in a previous blog post. Take the time to read over these points, and to ask the right questions when purchasing your tree.
