Every year, when November rolls around, with the change in month (and weather) comes the inevitable articles about what’s trendy in Christmas decorations this year. Obviously, 2019 will be no different! To make the task a little easier for you, and to guide you through all the images that you’ll see on your Instagram and Pinterest feeds, we’ve pulled seven of our seasonal favorites to help you decorate for a trendy Christmas season.

1- Life in color

While monotone decor remains a holiday decorating favorite, we’re seeing a lot more colorful interiors this year. Leave tone-on-tone in Christmases past, and this year opt for a brighter palette! Here are some of our favorite color pairings for your Christmas tree ornaments:

– Pink, burgundy, champagne and cream for a girly yet glamorous finish
– Dark blue, copper and burgundy for a more bold and masculine look that is out of the ordinary
– Grey/silver tones, paired with icy blues, aqua and white for bright holiday decor
– Natural tones with raw finishes paired with metallics for a modern, rustic-chic tree
– Oranges, greens and browns for a harvest-inspired Christmas season

2- Question of style

In the same vein as the previous point, the minimalism of Christmases past, is just that, the past. This season, immaculate, white spaces are no more. We’re looking toward warmer decor in which ambiance, textures and shapes are very present. While we’re not saying to go completely maximalist, we’re suggesting a turn toward more personalized Christmas decor and decorations.

3- Vintage Christmas

Feeling a little nostalgic this holiday season? This might make you feel better: vintage-inspired decorative accents are making a comeback! Travel down memory lane with touches of Christmases long past in your holiday decorating. You’ll find collections of skating figurines, antique car ornaments and stocking hooks, and even metallic disk ornaments with pictures of jolly Saint Nick! Pair these with glass balls covered in glitter or sequins for a chic take on vintage appeal.

4- Art of curves

No matter what style of decor you have at home, or what your holiday decorating style is, curved lines are in the spotlight, and they’re blending with clean lines. Don’t hesitate to hang multiple wreaths around your home, and hang your garlands as if they’re in motion. Finish the look with ball-shaped Christmas ornaments and traditional snow globes.

5- Return to nature

This year, we’re going back to the source by adding a few stems of berries, pinecones and spruce to our Christmas garlands. We mix the warmth of wood with black decorative accessories for a decor that’s both natural and contrasting. To decorate the Christmas tree, we choose ornaments representing nature, such as birds and reindeer.

6- No more matchy-matchy

For your indoor Christmas decorations, opt for mismatched tree ornaments. We suggest matching tones or styles, but we’re moving away from Christmas trees made up of three different styles of ornaments in large quantities. These are great for commercial spaces but try to do something different in your home. Be bold with your decor this season; mix patterns, materials, shapes and sizes of your ornaments for Christmas decorations that have character.

7- Beautiful brass

You read that right. Brass tones continue to be a must-have in all types of decorative schemes. This is a good thing because brass decorative accents— and it’s alloy, copper – are kind of everywhere this season. Christmas ornaments, fake flowers and foliage, you can find just about anything in these tones this year. They’re great to incorporate into your decor, because these metallics are considered a neutral so you can literally match them with anything in your home!
