Good news for all of you out-of-the-box thinkers: Christmas doesn’t always need to be all green and red! One of the biggest trends we’ve seen emerge in holiday décor during the last couple of years is pink. Pale, bright pink, dusty pink, all the pinks are becoming synonymous with yule. This fresh yet pretty take on festive tidings will give your name a bold and unique flavor this holiday season.

Since you may not want a wholly pink home, you might want to settle on a soft and neutral palette that will complement the rosy tones that you’re planning for your décor. Use a lot of whites as a base, but also use a neutral metallic like gold which pairs perfectly with pinks. If you want to go even bolder, the marriage of pink and burgundy is stunning and will add a dose of drama to your décor.

While you may worry that in changing your complete Christmas palette for something a little more “out there”, you’ll need to re-purchase everything and start from scratch, it is definitely not a necessity. There are so many ways to see Christmas through rose-colored glasses this season, and without breaking the bank. You’ll definitely need to buy a few new elements, like ornaments or flowers, but you can also use quite a few things that you already have.

Here are some helpful tips for thinking pink for Christmas:

– Pine wreaths are a Christmas staple – almost everyone has a plain wreath at home somewhere. Dig yours out, and update it in a fun and trendy way by adding a cluster of pink ball ornaments to it. Greens and pinks marry so well, and it’s a fun way to bring some modernity to tradition. The same goes for garlands; you can easily add pink ornaments or Christmas decorations to a garland to dress it up a little.

– Use glass vases, bowls, trays, and cake stands that you have at home to display ornaments in an original way. Mix pink and gold ornaments, or even pink and burgundy together. Place them on your table, or create vignettes a little all over the house.

– Don’t shy away from flowers. We definitely suggest that you opt for artificial flowers during the holidays, as fresh blooms can get expensive, and going faux will allow you to use them again. Pick poinsettias, magnolias, or any other flowers in the rose tone of your choice and place a few in a glass vase on your table or on your mantle.

– Wrap your Christmas presents in pink gift wrap, or at least use pink ribbon. This is a relatively inexpensive way to get the millennial pink look at Christmas. Wrapped presents, like it or not, add to your holiday décor, and having them wrapped in pink will carry your theme through.

– Get some pink candy canes and place them in your tree, in vases, a little everywhere to add the soft hue to your decor.

The hallmark of any Christmas décor is the tree, and this is where you’ll want to invest money in a few new ornaments. Purchase a few sets of different toned pink ornaments, in different finishes. Mercury glass finish is particularly nice in pink. You can fill your tree with white, gold, and burgundy ornaments that you likely already have at home, but making pink the focal color.

While we also love white or flocked Christmas trees with a pink palette for a new and modern effect, but as we mentioned, pink and the rich green of an artificial evergreen tree are breathtaking together.

Finally, don’t be shy to add flowers. This will give your tree, and your décor, a more antique and romantic vibe. Pick flowers in pinks, and other tones that will complement your other ornaments. You can add other natural elements, like pinecones, that will make the boldness of your pink really pop.

If you’re not the type to completely decorate a tree or your home in pink, opt for a “girly” tablescape instead! Like in this photo (below) from the holiday issue of Coup de Pouce, you can add some pink and metallic ornaments and accent with a bit of greenery for a fun, festive tablescape for all of your holget-togethersthers.

While we all may have a soft spot for that traditional red and green décor, think pink this Christmas and have the trendiest Christmas décor on the block! For more inspiration, we’ve created a small shopping guide to help you get the look!
