Already looking forward for the next decorating trends ? Décors Véronneau predicts 6 home decor styles you’ll be lucky to see this year, if you haven’t already. Nature will definitely take its place with neutral color palettes such as beige, taupe, green, black and white. Featuring plants, whether artificial or not, this year decorations will be both warm and minimalist.

1- Terracotta vases and pots: seeking a natural home decor

It’s no surprise that natural decorations are still very popular this year ! This time, we surround ourselves with terracotta planters, decorative plates and vases which the design reminds us handmade pottery. For example, in a buffet, you can stack a few decorative plates and some natural wood accessories. All that’s left to do is decorate the surface of the cabinet with black, white and gray planters. Finish by adding a simple laurel or olive tree branch to a vase to get the little touch of greenery you are looking for!

2- Green accents (and not just in houseplants!)

White walls are slowly making the place for dark greens ! Whether for accent walls, furnitures or decorative accessories, this color definitely makes any interior decor stands out. Don’t be afraid to put an artificial plant, like the calathea, directly against a wall of the same tone. This trick will make your green plant look even better! Tropical and botanical paintings will fit properly in this decor.

3- Straight lines make the way for rounded shapes in home decor accents

A few years ago, straight lines were synonymous with modern decor. However, in 2022, this is not quite true anymore! Today, we dare to use curves in our decorating accents, but also in the choice of our furniture. For example, round coffee tables or a mid-century rounded sofa. There are so many round decorative accessories, just think of wall clocks, vases and decorative bowls. Have you noticed? In this decor, green is a favorite, thanks to velvet cushions and small tabletop plants!

4- The craze for handmade and eco-friendly products

Since we are more aware than ever of the importance of buying local, handmade and environmentally friendly products, decorative accessories will not escape the rule. Pay special attention to decorative rugs and make sure they are eco-friendly and hand-woven. Although they may cost a few dollars more, you can be sure that your rug has been designed according to strict standards while benefiting from the expertise of experienced craftsmen. The same goes for your artificial plants. Whenever possible, encourage the local economy by buying trees made here in Canada.

5- Ultra minimalist design

This year, we clean the space! To do so, we select only a few original decorative objects that will act as centerpieces in our interior design. Pots in face or a bust shapes, as well as botanical or line art style paintings, will be essential to achieve this style. Forget about overly colorful items and focus on the warm tones of beiges and browns. The final result will be very sophisticated.

6- Unexpected artificial plants and succulents in hanging pots

Hanging plant arrangements are not going away! This is the best way for apartments and condos to add plants, when space is lacking. Simply set them up high in a hanging pot and you won’t lose an inch of your space. Be careful with the choice of your plants, however… prioritize the hanging oprin, the fern and the monstera which will offer a more modern look to your decor.
